About The Holy Spirit

An Overwhelming number of Christians do not believe that God can and will talk to them. Many Christians are not taught the essence and existence of the third person of God, the Holy Spirit. However, even for those who learn the purpose and the power of the Holy Spirit, they have a tough time accepting that the Holy Spirit is their direct link to Jesus Christ.

What sort of relationship do you think can be built with a one-sided conversation? That is the problem with prayer today for many Christians, they recite prayer after prayer, and they keep on talking, not letting God get a word in edgewise. It is as if God says to the Christian in prayer “Let me get a word in. I have heard you talking to me, now let me talk to you”. More often than not, the praying soul keeps on praying and saying while turning a deaf ear to what the Holy Spirit has to reply back to him or her.

Stop and ask yourself, have you accepted the existence of the Holy Spirit, for if you have not, you cannot receive His power. Once you have accepted the Holy Spirit your life will be changed immediately. The Holy Spirit adds to the knowledge and full relationship of the Holy Trinity. It gives a Christian the complete picture of a Christ-like life and provides you with the Gifts and Fruits to live such an experience. Without the Holy Spirit, there will always be a piece of God missing. Please understand, if you are not working with the Holy Spirit you still may know Jesus and God the Father, but again, you will never have a full knowledge and love, of Jesus Christ, nor intimacy with Him without the Holy Spirit.

For many years I engaged in one-sided conversations with God. It was not until I remained silent for some part of my prayer time that God, through the Holy Spirit, began to speak to me. I have been listening ever since. I finally realized that God had something to say to me. Now, I seldom go into prayer and meditation without a small notebook so I can write down what Jesus is speaking to me through the Holy Spirit. When you realize that these are words between you and the Holy Spirit, these words become so unique, so meaningful, that their power in and on your life cannot be explained.

When you realize that God the Father makes the Holy Spirit available to all Christians so they can be comforted and taught the words and thoughts of Jesus Christ, your life will change immediately. As it reads In John 14:26

26But the comforter, (which is) the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

If you are going to have a blessed Christian life, you better take Jesus at His word and start listening. I can give personal witness that Jesus through the Holy Spirit, has much to say because He has been speaking to me for years. The contents of this blog is only a small amount of what Jesus has whispered to me through the Holy Spirit and I have whispered back to the Holy Spirit. You must realize that the Holy Spirit is given to you so that you will receive the power to become a witness for Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us that in Acts 1:8

8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Jesus Christ has promised his followers, power. But we must live in and with the Holy Spirit to receive it. We must not be in the flesh when it comes to our God, for our God is a Spirit, and we must die to ourselves so we can live in the Spirit. In John 3:6-8 it reads

6Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

Are you a Christian that is still very much in the flesh? Are your prayers just words which you recite over and over? Are the only words you hear when you pray, yours? Do you have a two-way conversation going with Christ? Your answers to these questions are vital for you to realize the promise of God concerning the Holy Spirit in John 16: 7:15

“7But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8When he arrives, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: 9about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. 12“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.”
