WHISPERS TO AND FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT

ACCEPTANCE
When you accept me
for who I am
you have accepted life.
When you accept my ways
and my will
you have found the peace
you seek.
To accept who I am
and my will gives you a purpose
in life, beyond any purpose
you can find in the world.
With this sense of purpose
you know who you are
and what you must do
to be yourself.
In knowing yourself
you see the world
and its happenings
as it is.
And in seeing that,
you have my wisdom.
In that wisdom,
you find the knowledge
of life so that you know what
to do and when to do it.
My gifts of wisdom and knowledge
will lead to a discernment
which will give your
decisions the power
of my grace and being.
as well as my wisdom, knowledge
 and discernment.

Dr. Don’s Reflection

Throughout my life, I have sought worldly offering to become empowered but for a Christian, there is only one source of empowerment and that is Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.  Through the Holy Spirit I got to know Jesus Christ and through knowing Jesus Christ, the will of Father God is revealed to me. This empowerment comes through the gifts of the Holy Spirit such as wisdom, knowledge, and discernment which through grace blessed me abundantly.

These blessings however came after so much strife and struggle, pain, and suffering, I now know who God is and in that knowledge I grew to know God and myself better. True the greatness of God for me needs much more knowing but I am learning and loving God more each day.  Therein lays the greatness of life and that is to know God and to know yourself.  Without truly knowing God and yourself, you cannot know others.

It is a process for sure and I know I could not get where I am with God without going through the pain and suffering that life brings because in that pain and suffering I realized that my ways are not his ways and that my ways yield nothing but strife and stress. Thus I begin to listen to him in a different way and in doing so I learned to know who God is and from that knowledge I seek to know his will. Once God knew that I honestly sought to know his will he gave me what I needed to do his will.

Empowerment did not come from how much money I made or how big my house was or how well I was thought of by others.  No, any true empowerment that I got came from seeking God’s will. Now sadly sometimes I do not use that power or I abuse it but that never happens for long because the minute I realize that is happening I run back to Lord seeking his forgiveness so I can further seek his will. For me wondering from God’s will is spiritually fatal.

Do you want to know yourself and be empowered? To get there you need to get to know God and his will for you. In doing so the peace and power you will receive will beyond belief. To seek God you must first accept him.  Have you accepted God for who he is? Is god just some statue in church or picture hanging on the wall or someone you run to only when you’re in trouble.  Is your relationship with God one of obligation or celebration?  Seeking God’s will is a process that begins with acceptance. To seek God you must first accept him as your God.  You must realize who God is or you are not going to put the effort it takes to know God. It is as simple as that.

The depth of your love for God is directly related to how well you know him  To know God is to love him. To know more about God is to love him more.  If you seek God and never stop seeking him your love for him will continually grow and God will become your main reason for living.

Surely you will have your family, job, and community but all those relationships will be based on the love of God and your willingness to accept his will. Once you accept God you will have no other choice but to seek God and in seeking him you will love and serve him beyond ways that you cannot imagine.

The first step in a great relationship with God is to first accept him. Then in that acceptance you seek to know him better and in knowing him better you love him greatly and out of that great love you serve him.

Stop for a minute and think of a love in your life. Let’s say your spouse or girlfriend or boyfriend.  First of all you had to accept the fact that you wanted to pursue that person.  Out of that acceptance you wanted to know more about that person. In knowing more about that person you grew to love that person and out of loving that person you were willing to do anything you can for that person to show your love by serving that person.

It is the same way with your relation to God. It s the process of accepting, knowing, loving, and serving.  Ok then where are you in this process. Did you stop your relation with God with acceptance? Did you seek to know him? And in that seeking did you move ahead with the relationship in building your love for God or are you satisfied with just accepting and knowing God.

Here is the bottom line. You cannot love God just a little bit. Once you accept God, know God, love God, and serve God it becomes your life’s purpose. Are you searching for a deeper purpose for your life than the world has to offer? The answer is to accept, know, love, and serve God.
