WHISPERS TO AND FROM THE HOLY SPIRIT

Creator, Creation, And Connection

You may approach me
anytime or anyplace.
My essence is the universe.
I am in, near, around, and
by all worldly things.
You cannot separate
the creator from his creation.
I created all things so you
can find me in all things.
Do not confine me to a
place of worship in which
you feel I reside only.
For I reside in the
water you drink,
in the food, you eat,
in the ice cream, you lick,
in the flowers, you smell,
in the lakes in which
you swim and the oceans
on which you sail. I am in
the sunlight, the lightning
and thunder. I am in the
blue skies. I am in your mate,
your children, your friends,
your coworkers and yes
even your enemies.
You can find me in all creation.
All you need to do is stop,
think, see, know feel and love
the creation which you are in
and you will experience,
your God and heaven on earth.

                                                                                                                                 Dr.Don’s Reflection

One of the most important lessons I had to learn from the Holy Spirit is how connected I am to all God’s creation.

As part of my spiritual development, I had to realize God’s people are not all separate but rather through the power of God’s love and creation we are connected. For me, this was very hard to realize and still is.  I have difficulty with it because I like to think it is all about me, my family, my friends, my work and so on. However, my existence as a Christian is far more connected than just my being and the people and things in relation to me.

After many years of walking with the Lord, I am much more in touch with the beauty of his creation. I can see, feel and appreciate the essence of his creation and how he created this beauty for all to enjoy.  So I see the depth of color in a gladiola and the sparkle of the dew on a blade of grass or the wonder of all sorts of animal species which exist or how incredible it is that we can message people all around the world through the internet.  The amazement of it all and yes I am connected to it all in a miraculous way.

I realize now that all this is not for me to just observe but rather for me to become part of because of the place I have in God’s creation. We are connected. We are not a “soul” unto ourselves.

When it comes to people in creation The definition of compassionate according to YourDictionary.com is “someone who shows kindness and empathy to others, or in something or some act that expresses kindness or empathy.”  I am sad to say  I do not always connect like that and I  feel bad about it.

But the good news is I am more often than not feeling connected to the people, places and things in God creation. It gives me much joy to witness the glory of God in his creation in part and in whole.  Being connected to the creation of God makes me feel gifted, not alone and very empowered. I am consciously working on feeling connected by prayer and by remaining conscious and living in the moment to experience everything I can in God’s creation.

                                                                                                                              Dr. Don’s Comments

This is not an area that I feel particularly qualified to comment on as you may conclude from Dr. Don’s Reflections above.  It surely is an area of my spiritual development on which the Holy Spirit is still very much working with me.  So the question is, Are you seeing or feeling the connection with God’s creation? Are you trying?  Or do you feel as I did for so long that it is all about me and mine?

I can assure you that you will not feel like an island unto yourself if you open yourself up to the fullness of God’s creation.  And know the only way you can open yourself to God’s creation and actually get that connected feeling like, “Geez God, you really made that mountain just for me” is to pray for it. Constantly ask the Lord to show you how you can feel connected to everything in his creation.

Now I know I have talked about connecting with flowers, lakes, oceans, mountains, animals the and so on but connecting with people is somewhat different.  For that, you need the grace of God to develop the gift of compassion.

Now compassion means different things to different people but here is a list of synonyms for the word compassionate. Look these over, and you will not need any definition. Nor would you need to know what you have to do to get connected with God’s people in creation.

pitying, sympathetic, empathetic, understanding, caring, concerned, solicitous, sensitive, tenderhearted, softhearted, warmhearted, warm, loving, tender, gentle, merciful, lenient, tolerant, considerate, thoughtful, kind, kindly, kindhearted, humanitarian, humane, charitable benevolent, good-natured, well disposed of, big-hearted.

So your prayer to the Holy Spirit to get connected in creation with other souls is to be gifted with as many of these traits above as you can.  Your prayer is, “Dear Lord, through the power of the Holy Spirit allow me to be “tenderhearted.”, “gentle.”  “charitable.” “understanding,” and so on.”  Choose three at a time and pray for compassionate qualities.  Then over time take note of how the Holy Spirit grants your prayer request.

Once you see, you have developed three of these compassionate qualities, pray for three more. You will see that the Holy Spirit will put situations in your life that will call for you to display these compassion qualities to others.  You may not even realize when you are displaying this compassionate that you are doing it. However, all of a sudden it will dawn on you that you are making a connection with God’s people in his creation, and you will feel very good about that.

Part of self-realization is to see ourselves in connection to God’s creation and when we do that the importance of who we are and how we have been gifted by God becomes evident.
