WHEN WILL THE WATERS, CALM

WHISPERS TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

When Will The Waters Calm

Jesus My Boat Is Being Tossed
about the waves of life.
The winds of the world
are against me.
I feel I will never reach
the shore of peace.
When will the waters, calm
Sweet Jesus.
Lord, the land seems so far away.
I’m scared, Lord.
Why is it, this is the boat
Do you have for me?
Take courage you say to me.
Don’t be afraid.
Yet when I take my eyes off you
I am terrified.
Why have you called me as your disciple?
You need stronger souls than I.
Even, so Lord look at me
I am walking on the water toward you
I am in the midst of trouble seas.
My eyes are fixed on you, Lord.
But when my stare flickers
even for an instant
I feel like I am sinking
into the depths of hell.
Then you hear my cry
“Lord, save me”.
Stretching out your hands
I fall into your arms.
Yes, I am of little faith.
I do not know why I doubt.
With you near my boat
the wind dies down.
With you near my boat
the seas are still.
With you near my boat
I know, I am saved
Truly, you are
the Son of God

 Dr. Don’s Reflection

My faith for the longest time was battered with doubt and fear. It was not that I did not have faith it was that it was challenged frequently by doubt and fear. Looking back I can see that the Lord allow that for me because I needed it. I was such a weak Christian I had to have my faith constantly challenged to build it up. It is like a bodybuilder. If he or she wants to build muscle mass, they constantly have to increase the resistance. And so it was with me. The Lord knows I was brought up in the faith but not in a strong way. He knows I was a believer but not deeply.

The Lord chose me to be where I am now, and the only way I could get there is with a life full of a faith which fear and doubt came against. So while I wish I could have had less fear and doubt I am so thankful for the fear and doubt I have had for it made my faith what it is today, strong.

This Whisper To The Holy Spirit, I received obviously when I was going through a bout of fear and doubt. These are words put to me by the Holy Spirit such a way that they could never have come from me. They were given to me by the Holy Spirit to whisper back to the Lord, which I did much more than once.

I ended up by calling this my Fear Prayer, and you are welcome to use it any time that you feel the need to do so. If you go back and read the words slowly, you will see how they fit all believers.

That is the beauty about Whispers To, and From The Holy Spirit, the words may not mean the same thing to all believers, but the words apply to all believers, just in different ways. The Holy Spirit has been whispering the same words to Christians since the time of Jesus. Christianity is the same today as it was at the last supper. The message of the  Holy Spirit is the same today as it was at Pentecost.

I wish I could have been born with faith like Mother Mary, her husband Joseph and many of the great Saints. I say many because not all great Saints had strong faith in their early life. Many Saints like me had their faith riddled with fear and doubt until the Lord got them to where he wanted them to be. It is unlikely, I will ever be a Saint, however, my prayer is for the Lord to continue to free me from fear and doubt.

Is your faith and maybe your entire life riddled by fear and doubt?  Well then there is one thing you need to realize, and that is fear and doubt are the tools of the evil one.  Fear and doubt is the way of the world and part of a soul with low self-esteem.

Fear and doubt are major battlefields of Christian warfare. You must fight both to reach a faith that is not just a strong faith but an expectant faith. An expectant faith is based on Romans 8:28 which reads

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Believing that you have a God that is going to take care of you no matter what is a faith that has beaten fear and doubt.

Read Roman’s 8: 28 carefully. It reads that God will bring good from everything that happens in our life. It reads “in all things God works for the good of those who love him and who have been called according to his purpose.”  Does it read, he will bring good from all things as long as it is not your fault?  Does it read that he will bring good from all things as long as you were the one that did not “screw things up”?  No it reads God is going to bring good from all things that happen in your life, even the wrong things, even the unspeakable things that can happen to people, the Lord will bring good from all of it and the only prerequisite is you love him and follow him.

The prerequisites are not that you not be a sinner. It is not that you must be a saint or a great prayer or giver or praise. It is simply that you love him and follow him, and you need not be fearful or doubtful in your faith. You know all will be Ok, and He will bring good from everything that happens to you in your life.

Knowing this should give you all you need to deal with fear and doubt which attacks your faith.  You must understand there are only two ways to handle fear and that is FEAR, Face Everything And Run or, Face Everything And Reap.

When you face fear and doubt with an understanding that you love God and you are trying to follow him the best you can at this point in your life, then you know God is going to bring good from all things in your life. What a God we have. What a deal he has made with us thisSon of God. People, love and follow me and I will make good things happen in your life even if they come from bad.
